The Council of Governments (COG, better known as CLOG) dissolved the eight counties of CT.

Fairfield county was split in two, with one region called Bridgeport, until everyone made fun of them, then they changed it to Metro. Bridgeport is maintained by Hartford as it is the production site for projects, mostly schools in recent decades for hundreds of millions of dollars each.

This divided keeps it under Hartford’s control. Look at the activity in it now; it’s latent.

Meanwhile, they combined Hartford and Tolland (Storrs) counties to create a super-region they call the Capital District. The only ones better at getting Federal money than politicians is higher education. They have been going great guns, at the expense of the rest of the state.
